Your selfie. When you scan on this site, your photo is resized in your browser, which removes location and other metadata, and sent over an encrypted connection to our server. The server passes it to our AI provider (DeepSeek) to analyse your skin and returns the result. Velvet Hour does not store the photo. A small copy and your result are kept in your own browser so you can see them again; "Scan again" removes them.
Your email and purchase. If you buy a plan, Stripe processes the payment. We keep your email address, the plan you bought and whether it is active, so the iPhone app can unlock when you sign in.
Abuse prevention. We keep a short-lived, scrambled record of your network address to limit free scans and sign-in attempts.
In the iPhone app. Scans, photos, your routine, your shelf and your conversations are stored on your iPhone. Apple Health data stays on your iPhone and is never sent to the AI service.
Terms
Not medical advice. Velvet Hour gives cosmetic skincare and beauty guidance based on how your skin looks in a photo. It does not diagnose, treat or prevent any condition. See a dermatologist or doctor about anything that worries you.
Plans. Monthly and yearly plans renew automatically until cancelled. Lifetime is a single payment.
